A Legend's Legacy: The Stats and Stories of Steve Weinstein's Hall of Fame Induction

When a player wins the Bermuda Bowl, the Rosenblum Cup, and is named ACBL Player of the Year, a Hall of Fame induction is not a question of "if," but "when." For Steve Weinstein, one of the most dominant and respected players of his generation, that moment came in July 2025, solidifying a legacy built on staggering success and enduring partnerships.

The ceremony itself provided a vivid look at the man behind the astonishing resume, painting a complete picture through the eyes of his family and friends.

The Foundation

The evening began with a tribute from Fred Stewart, Steve’s stepfather, who recalled Steve's first major win at just seventeen years old. That early victory was the start of an incredible run that would see him amass

44 first or second-place finishes in major national events and seven Cavendish wins.
But Stewart's stories also revealed the sharp wit that complements his table presence. He shared a story of betting a young Stevie $10 that he couldn't sleep on the roof overnight. Stevie quickly turned the tables, returning to say, "...you are giving me the $10 because mom says she is not sleeping with you until you do so". It was a perfect glimpse of the clever mind that would go on to outwit the world's best. Stewart concluded with the heartfelt sentiment, "You are my stepson, but I consider you my son. Congratulations on being inducted into the Hall. Well deserved".

The Partnership

At the heart of Weinstein's modern success is his formidable 25-year partnership with Bobby Levin. Together, they have conquered the bridge world, winning multiple Vanderbilt and Spingold titles, the 2010 World Open Pairs, and the prestigious 2022 Bermuda Bowl. Levin's speech, a classic roast, celebrated their bond. He hilariously described Steve as a "chameleon" who might show up speaking in a "broken Polish dialect". Levin also highlighted the brilliant, competitive fire that defines their success. He recounted a key moment from the World Championships where Steve, the "little poker monkey," masterfully bluffed his way through a "hopeless" contract to secure a victory. It is this trust and shared genius that makes them one of the "finest pairs in the world". Levin finished his tribute by looking at his friend and saying, "I love you, my brother".

The Man Himself

When Steve Weinstein took the podium, he was candid, funny, and profoundly grateful. He paid tribute to his late parents, whose "all night marathon bridge sessions" taught him a love for the game "than any trophy ever could".

He directed heartfelt words to the key figures in his life. To Bobby Levin, he said, "25 years ride or die... You're so much more than a bridge partner. You are my brother". And in an emotional moment, he thanked his wife, Liz for being his "absolute rock and greatest partner" for nearly four decades.
While the record books will forever show the World Championships, the four Vanderbilt wins, and the dozens of other titles, the stories from his Hall of Fame night revealed the man who made it all possible
